Krypton Vision Debuts Wavefront Refraction System

Product: Krypton Vision Refraction System
Top Line: Krypton Vision, a Fremont, Calif.-based start-up, is introducing an objective wavefront-driven refraction system. The system delivers first custom-made, high-definition lens free of inherent imperfections both in eyes and eyeglasses lenses, according to Krypton Vision.
A study conducted at the Navy Medical Center at San Diego revealed 288 eyes of Topgun aviators with uncorrected, natural 20/10 vision have superior optical quality for all pupil conditions (day or night). Alternatively, 20/20 eyes were found to have compromised optical quality and elevated aberrations. These findings enabled Krypton Vision to create proprietary artificial intelligence algorithms that deliver predictive prescriptions of people's unique vision to those of 20/10 optics.
Close Up:
IwavePhorpoter: an integrated wavefront platform with a Hartmann-Shack aberrometer, ultra high-resolution digital phoropter and proprietary software control with artificial intelligence delivers 20/10 optics correction, with subjective validation to ensure patient acceptance
IwaveVue: custom-made, high-definition lenses that offer 20/10 optics through proprietary Wavefront refraction and free-form design and manufacturing technology
IwearScan: a scanning system for fitting eyeglasses and virtual try-on of frames that delivers fast and precise measurements
"Based on sensible, scientifically-based ideas from a pioneer of Wavefront technology for the eye, Krypton Vision has come up with a smart, effective and modern solution for spectacle prescriptions and lenses," said Austin Roorda, PhD, an expert in adaptive optics for vision and ophthalmology and professor of optometry and vision science at the School of Optometry, University of California, Berkeley.
Vital Stats: Krypton Vision, founded in Fremont, California in 2011, is a privately-owned medical device company. The company is dedicated to developing the next-generation technologies that enable high-Definition Vision with eyeglasses for all age groups, and even for people with uncorrected vision of 20/20. The company's founder, Junzhong Liang, PhD, helped introduce Wavefront technology and adaptive optics to vision and ophthalmology in the 1990s and pioneered FDA-approved wavefront-custom LASIK procedures in the early 2000s.

Eye Care Leaders Taps DrFirst for Medication Management and E-prescribing

Product: DrFirst e-medication management platform integration with Eye Care Leaders electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
Top Line: DrFirst, a company that develops medication management solutions, has been selected by Eye Care Leaders (ECL), a provider of practice performance solutions for ophthalmologists and optometrists, to integrate its medication management and e-prescribing technology with ECL’s electronic health record (EHR) platforms. With the addition of Eye Care Leaders, 70 percent of the ophthalmologist market now participates on the DrFirst E-Medication Management platform, the companies said in a statement.
Close Up: The average American fills 12 prescriptions per year, making medication management and e-prescribing a critical component of care delivery. Through DrFirst, ECL physicians gain access to a comprehensive platform that combines medication reconciliation and e-prescribing functionalities, including e-prescribing for controlled substances. Also included is DrFirst’s Patient Advisor, which allows physicians to better identify “at-risk” patients who have a history of non-adherence or clinical care gaps. Additionally, the solution allows physicians to support patients between office visits with financial, behavioral and clinical resources that address patients’ specific conditions, treatments and self-management of disease.
Vital Stats: Integration with DrFirst will be available to Eye Care Leaders’ customers beginning late summer 2017.
