Compulink Showcases Ophthalmology EHR and ASC Solutions at AAO 2016

Product: Compulink Ophthalmology Advantage System
Top Line: Compulink Business Systems demonstrated the latest enhancements to its MACRA-ready Ophthalmology Advantage system at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s annual meeting, held last month in Chicago.
Close Up: Among the key innovations is OneTab—a single tab exam layout that allows providers to easily view and document the exam from one screen. This new single screen approach improves provider productivity by eliminating the clicks and the time spent searching for patient information.
Fully integrated with Compulink’s Eyecare Advantage software, PracticeWatch automates repetitive tasks, freeing staff to focus on patient care. A built-in scheduler allows tasks to be scheduled to automatically run monthly, hourly, weekly, or daily—day or night. This includes tasks such as running reports and sending of appointment reminders to patients. PracticeWatch also allows users to define business rules to monitor conditions within the practice and execute tasks when specific conditions are met. For example, using PracticeWatch, providers can create a task to monitor patient flow and automatically send them an Instant Message when wait times exceed desired wait times.
Vital Stats: One of the first vendors to map its EHR to the American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS Registry, Compulink is part of the Academy’s IRIS Registry EHR Collaborator Program.

Product: CTS Glare Unit
Top Line: M&S Technologies provides a Glare Testing unit for the CTS protocols that complies with the ANSI standard by decreasing contrast sensitivity function by 0.1 log units across several spatial frequencies. The CTS Glare unit is an option that can easily be added onto both the all-in-one computers as well as the laptops.
Close Up: The Clinical Trial Suite is a fully automated, customizable suite of protocols designed specifically for use in vision-related research and clinical trials. It consists of a variety of visual acuity and contrast sensitivity protocols that easily step the user through the eye charts presented and directly respond to user input regarding correct/incorrect responses. Each suite can be customized specifically to meet the sponsors’ trial needs, and comes with a variety of hardware options.
Vital Stats: CTS protocols are accepted for use in Phase III Endpoint Trials, are peer-reviewed and published by prominent industry professionals, and also adhere to ISO standards. The science behind CTS ensures a high level of precision and repeatability from site to site for reliable results.

drchrono Upgrades EHR Platform to Meet the Needs of Large Medical Practices

Product: drchrono EHR Platform
Top Line: drchrono is releasing a new version of its award-winning EHR platform which is designed to meet the needs of larger medical practices and provider groups.
“We’ve updated our EHR platform for larger medical practices that need to retire their legacy EMR systems and upgrade to cloud-based technology, real-time business intelligence tools, RCM software and mobile applications,” said Michael Nusimow, CEO and co-founder of drchrono. “drchrono has spent its formative years developing a physician first product building in customization and clinical tools all integrated into one platform. The new features are specifically designed for larger provider groups who need to operate more efficiently, and these features transform what administrators, billers and staff have been using until now.”
Additionally, drchrono has built an RCM (Revenue Cycle Management) team with its own RCM platform, RCM Pro, optimizing the workflow of coders, billers, and billing managers making managing multiple practices more fluid.
Close Up: The upgrades decrease the number of steps taken in any given process. You can complete any task within the EHR in one to three fewer clicks, according to drchrono.
For ophthalmologists and optometrists, it doesn't matter in what order the refraction, dilation and other tests happen during the eye exam. The upgrades make it easier to access the point of the patient’s record to enter this information. This improvement will be especially helpful for smaller practices that have medical equipment that is not integrated directly into an EHR already, a company spokesperson said.
