Satisloh Debuts VFT-macro Generator

Product: VFT-macro
Top Line: Satisloh is expanding its flagship line of VFT generators with the addition of the VFT-macro. Based on proven and validated VFT technology, the VFT-macro is engineered especially for mid-size labs that demand both digital surfacing and conventional Rx generating in a smaller and lighter machine.
“We’re setting a new economic standard for manual lens production with the VFT-macro,” said Ian Gregg, director of sales, Satisloh. “It combines high throughput and outstanding surface quality with a small footprint and low weight.”
Close Up: The new generator has a unique barrel-shaped working chamber that minimizes thermal influences to produce superior surface accuracy and lens quality. The VFT-macro employs full surface milling and high speed turning as well as engraving of back side lenses. Unique automated tool and axes calibration streamline set-up and minimize maintenance.
“The Macro takes advantage of a milling tool for rapid stock removal with the final ‘ready to polish’ surface produced ‎by a single point diamond turning tip, and it can engrave semi visible markings with its integrated engraving tool, which is a standard feature,” noted Gregg.
Vital Stats: Pairing the VFT-macro with the Toro-Flex polisher creates an ideal package for medium-sized labs, according to Satisloh.

Nextech Integrates With IRIS Registry Link

Product: Nextech-IRIS Integration
Top Line: Nextech, a leading provider of specialty-focused healthcare technology solutions for physician practices, has successfully integrated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology's (AAO) IRIS (Intelligent Research in Sight) Registry, the nation's first comprehensive eye disease clinical registry. Nextech's integration with the AAO IRIS Registry will allow Nextech's ophthalmology clients to compare clinically relevant data, analyze benchmarks, and report data to CMS's Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) to standardize and improve the delivery of eyecare nationwide.
Close Up: Through this integration, Nextech will work with the AAO to set up credentials and map the IRIS registry into participating clients' systems at no charge; this process takes approximately four to six weeks and will allow ophthalmologists to view comparative metrics and analyze relevant benchmarks in order to promote practice innovations and achieve clinical excellence. In addition, the IRIS Registry will make it easier for physicians to report data to PQRS, which is imperative to receive the 0.5 percent PQRS bonus payment in 2014, while also avoiding the two percent penalty that will take effect beginning with 2016 Medicare payments.
"We are excited to work with the American Academy of Ophthalmology as we share the goal of improving the delivery of eyecare," said Christina Majeed, chief product officer at Nextech. "This integration is just another way that Nextech maintains its commitment to provide interoperable, robust solutions and advisory support to help our clients improve efficiency and enhance quality."
