A&A Optical Debuts SeventyOne Collection

More Images
Quick Take: A&A Optical has launched SeventyOne, its latest eyewear collection that pays homage to yesteryear.
Wearer: “The target demographic for the SeventyOne eyewear collection is the Millennial generation, older teens through post-college age. The styles in the collection are hip, bold colored, high quality and competitively priced. Thus far, feedback about the collection has been amazing,” said Robert Liener, the company’s president and CEO.
Specifics: SeventyOne will feature six men’s styles and six female styles, and will include metal frames with distinct color stories and acetate frames with bold metal accents.
Selling Points: “Near and dear to me, since 1971 is the year A&A Optical was founded, this house-created collection will be a great addition to the family of brands that A&A has been known for, for over 44 years,” concluded Liener. Named after the inception year of A&A Optical, the collection is a nod to indie-prep style and is engineered for the Millennial market with timeless shapes, organic color variations and a unique fusion of materials and textures, the company said.

EnChroma Introduces Indoor Color Enhancing Lens

Quick Take: EnChroma is introducing the Cx-65, a color-enhancing lens designed for indoor and nighttime use.
Wearer: The Cx-65 works best with computers and colored status/indicator lights on electronic devices, but has only a mild effect on most surface colors such as printed photos, according to EnChroma.
Specifics: The lens, which has a light blue tint, has an ANSI Z.87 Category 3 classification and is not intended as a sun lens. It is available in single vision, blended round 25mm bifocal and progressive designs. AR and hydrophobic coatings are standard.
Selling Points: “A lot of EnChroma sunglass wearers wanted an indoor version so they could bring the experience of seeing certain colors for the first time to their lives at work and at home," said Tony Dykes, CEO of EnChroma. "Everything from learning at school, or presenting a colorful slide show at work, to debating friends about the infamous 'gold-and-white or black-and-blue dress,' is much easier with EnChroma Cx indoor glasses. We're excited to help CVD (Color Vision Deficiency) kids overcome learning obstacles at school, or to enable someone to enter a field requiring color-identification capabilities."

Marchon Unveils Lacoste LT12 Capsule Collection Suns

More Images
Quick Take: Marchon has debuted the Lacoste L781S sunglass in acetate as part of the Limited Edition LT12 racket capsule collection.
Specifics: Inspired by the new Lacoste LT12 racket, which has reinvented the traditional tennis racket by combining wood and graphite for the first time, the capsule collection uses petit piqué, color blocking, piping and patterns, all the well-known features of the brand DNA that are revisited and modernized for a timeless elegance collection.
Selling Points: In 2015, Lacoste launches the LT12, a hybrid racket born from the combination of wood and graphite. Three years of research were necessary for the development of assembling two completely opposite materials; the LT12 is 70 percent wood and 30 percent graphite. Entirely made by a French craftsman based in Albertville, each racket takes five hours to produce and is offered as a limited edition of 650 numbered pieces. To accompany the launch of the LT12, Lacoste has designed an innovative capsule combining tradition and technology. Inspired by tennis’ primary aesthetics: the prevalence of white, clean lines and sleek shapes. The iconic Lacoste green and blue come in for energy and movement. Lightness, functionality and comfort are the key words in the design of this capsule that combines tradition and innovation. Materials are extremely light and comfortable and the accessories also combine comfort and elegance with similar technical features seen on the garments.

1-Day Acuvue Moist Multifocals Account for Pupil Size

Quick Take: In a departure from typical multifocal contact lenses, the new daily disposable 1-Day Acuvue Moist brand multifocal contact lenses match the optical design to the pupil size.
Specifics: Optimizing the optical design to account for the natural variation in pupil size according to age and refractive power results in a superior vision experience, according to the company. The contact lens launch is currently in its in-market assessment phase, which began April 1, 2015, with approximately 500 eyecare professionals around the world (about 300 in the U.S.). ECPs now have the opportunity to order 1-Day Acuvue Moist brand multifocal contact lenses, beginning June 1, 2015, with the full launch scheduled for June 24 at the American Optometric Association Optometry’s Meeting.
Selling Points: The 1-Day Acuvue Moist brand multifocal contact lens features 61 distance powers (+6.00D to -9.00D in 0.25D steps) with three add powers (low, mid, and high) to offer 183 unique designs. Its hybrid back-curve design helps deliver a precise fit in two ways—spherical periphery helps ensure centration of the optics over the pupil and the aspheric center maintains the integrity of the front-surface optics.

Prodesign Denmark Releases Three New Essential Models

Prodesign has releases three new styles into their Essential Collection, the 1406-08, in titanium with emphasis on coloration. The fronts and temples are colored separately and assembled afterwards with the temple colored in reversed order of the front, and the endtip reversing the colors again. Despite the fact that the three colors are reversed, the middle line remains constant. The execution of the color matching is really on an extremely high level. The titanium parts are all finished with the brand’s popular rubbercoat, while the endtips are sandblasted. The endtips are ¾ in length to make a more visible transition from temple to endtips. In the new release, there are two shapes for women, one semi-rimless and full rim, and one shape for men, a semi-rimless in two sizes. The rim on the semi-rimless styles are countersunk into the front material. www.prodesigndenmark.com
