SCENE + HEARD Zeiss Makes a Splash With UVProtect at Vision Expo By Staff Monday, April 16, 2018 12:00 AM NEW YORK—Hosting a party on the Hudson River is sure to make a splash. And that is what Zeiss intended when it held the launch party for its new UVProtect lens technology aboard the USS Intrepid, the WWII-era aircraft carrier docked at Pier 86 on Manhattan’s West Side. Zeiss marketing chief Andrew Hyncik started the evening in the ship’s theater with a presentation about Zeiss’s historic role in the arts and technology. The several hundred guests then moved into the ship’s main area, directly below the flight deck, where a 10-piece dance band entertained and food and drinks were in abundance. At Vision Expo, Zeiss also called attention to UVProtect at the Zeiss Discovery Center. Visitors to the Zeiss booth learned about UV protection using Bluetooth earphones. The unique interactive experience was a hit with attendees, and tripled the number of leads Zeiss normally generates at the show, the company said.
