ST. LOUIS—The World Council of Optometry (WCO) announced the winners of international awards recognizing outstanding contributions to optometry. The awards will be presented at the WCO Governing Boarding VIP Dinner, which precedes the 2nd World Congress of Optometry, on Sept. 10 at the Novotel Hotel ballroom in Hyderabad, India.

Robert Chappell, OBE, MPhil, DSc., FCOptom, will be presented with the WCO Distinguished Service Award for his contribution, over time, to the achievement of WCO’s vision and mission. Priya Morjaria will be presented with the WCO Paul Berman Young Leader Award, which is awarded to an optometrist who has made contributions to the achievement of WCO’s vision and mission and shows promising future leadership in the world of optometry.

The 2nd World Congress of Optometry is taking place Sept. 11 to 13 in Hyderabad, India and is jointly organized by the WCO, the India Vision Institute (IVI) and the Asia Pacific Council of Optometry (APCO).
