NEW YORK—Vint & York, the New York-based brand has collaborated with Smithsonian to create The Time Capsule collection which features four new frame styles that take inspiration from the striking historical backstories and images of Smithsonian’s historical artifacts.

This collaboration includes optical and sun styles that are crafted in high quality acetates with touches of metal detailing. The pieces in the collection range from a bold cat eye frame to a 50s-inspired browline silhouette. The collection tells the story of treasured artifacts that date back to the early to mid-1900s, underlining the vintage character of Vint & York Eyewear.

The Vint & York design team took inspiration from the vast collection of the Smithsonian’s historical artifacts from the 1920s-1960s and sketched the new frames: a browline, round, cat eye, and a square silhouette were created.

“We were not only inspired by the allure of nostalgia, but by the character of these objects. The Smithsonian has some of the most iconic cultural pieces, a vast collection of historical touchstones, and rare oddities. It was a designer’s dream,” said Larisa Ginzburg, Vint & York’s founder.

Showcasing androgynous frame proportions, created for both men and women, the styles are easy fitting and flattering. The collection is designed for people who seek a classic, yet alternative look.

The Time Capsule collection is available at VintandYork.com as well as its New York flagship.
