David Pierson

ALEXANDRIA, Va.—The Vision Council has named David Pierson as the staff liaison of its recently created Optical Retail Division. Pierson, who has 30-plus years of experience in the retail industry, will provide “a unique perspective in driving the programs for the Optical Retail Division,” according to an announcement this week. In his career, Pierson has “spearheaded and managed operations, merchandising and strategic planning through a variety of leadership positions with organizations such as Refac Optical Group, CPI Corp., Cole National Corp., Federated Department Stores, Target and Sears,” according to the announcement.

Most recently, he served as the founder of J. David Optical Consultants. The Vision Council also noted that Pierson will receive guidance from division chair James Rosin of Rosin Eyecare and Stuart Jolly of Sam’s Club/Walmart. Rosin and Jolly were named to these positions earlier this month, as VMAIL reported.

The Vision Council’s Optical Retail Division—which was announced in January and continues to grow with more than 30 participating companies of various sizes—focuses on the unique business needs of optical retailers, as well as the important relationship between retail and wholesale. For questions related to the Optical Retail Division, the Vision Council recommends sending an email note to Greg Chavez at gchavez@thevisioncouncil.org.
