PALM SPRINGS, Fla.—Stanton Optical, an optical retailer owned by Vision Precision Holdings, continued its 2017 push into new markets late last month with the opening of the company’s first location in Mississippi.

The new office, which is in Ridgeland, about 10 miles north of Jackson in the central part of the state, was built at a popular intersection in what had been a pizza shop. As dba reported, Stanton Optical is in the midst of an ambitious expansion plan in 2017, with an expectation of entering a half dozen new markets and opening new locations at a rate of almost three new units per month.

Stanton Optical also will bolster its presence in Southern California, Texas and South Carolina this year. Since January, the company has added nine new locations, increasing its office count to 55, according to Salena Youngman, marketing director.

Youngman noted that “rising demand for eyecare needs, great real estate and limited competition” attracted Stanton Optical to Mississippi, the 18th state where the company operates retail offices.

The new Mississippi location will also feature an in-house lab, which enables Stanton to provide one-hour service on most single-vision lenses, according to the company.

The first Stanton Optical opened in Mishawaka, Ind., in 2006, and there are now 55 locations across the U.S. Vision Precision Holdings, which owns both Stanton Optical and My Eyelab, operated 68 optical locations under the two brand names as of mid-May. There are 13 company-owned My Eyelab offices operating, an increase of one location since January.
