WHO: Worn by stylish icons of the 1960s such as Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and of course, Twiggy.

WHAT: Oversized squared silhouettes that can at times lean slightly toward the more rectangular side. These looks channel the retro shapes of the 1960s mod-era.

WEAR: (Top to Bottom) From Safilo’s Givenchy collection, style GV0094 shows off a bold optical look. This oversized square silhouette is a taste of the 1960s that will definitely be the focal point of any wearer’s ensemble. Its thick all-acetate silhouette is featured in a dual-toned color palette adding a trendy twist to this retro style. From Marcolin’s GUESS collection, style GU7557, shows off a chic modified square silhouette. This look features a slightly mirrored lens—perfect for summer, and is elevated by a gold metal accent that is visible at the top of the frame. Cutler and Gross style 1299-03 in slate is the perfect optical translation of this iconic silhouette’s sun version. This classic optical style is crafted from 8mm sheet acetate and is elevated with ‘televisioni’ milling, giving this square silhouette a sharp, refined look.

WHY: Last summer, it was all about oversized rounds, and now we’ve switched gears to let another iconic silhouette take center stage. Oversized acetate square silhouettes, as both optical and sun styles, give off a strong, bold look for any wearer. These retro frames are the ideal look for anyone who wants to bring a little 60s mod vibe to the present.
