FRISCO, Texas—Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 for Rick Holt, 51, who passed away on Jan. 25 after a long battle with cancer.Holt was a native of Colorado Springs and a 1988 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He first got involved in the vision industry with Essilor in 2004, working as a consultant. His subsequent work at Essilor included Essilor Labs promotions and the launch of Definity Lenses after their acquisition from Johnson & Johnson. His passion for the optical industry later led him to Think About Your Eyes, the vision industry’s public awareness campaign. He spearheaded the initial launch of the campaign and eventually served as the campaign’s director of marketing, overseeing the advertising and website development. Under his leadership, the campaign successfully launched nationally in 2013 and has grown exams and reduced exam cycles significantly. His dedication led to the addition of numerous industry partners and continued success for the campaign. “Holt will be remembered as an eternal optimist, even in the face of the rare cancer he fought for nine years. His effervescent smile and enthusiasm for his work will be missed by his colleagues,” a spokesperson for Think About Your Eyes said. Holt is survived by his children Jessica and Trevor, his brother Darryl and wife Juanita, brother Russell, and his mother, Mickey. Services will be held at Frisco Heritage Center, Lebanon Chapel in Frisco, Texas on Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. A Go Fund Me page has been set up for his children's education funds.
