FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—Staff members within an optometry practice are often the unsung heroes of the practice’s success. Because of this, the GPN EXPERTeam recognizes a “Rock Star of the Month” from among the many practices they manage. Once each year, however, a single individual is chosen among the Rock Stars as truly being the top contributor. GPN’s 2015 ‘Rock Star of the Year’ has been awarded to Ryan Horndasch, office manager of Bethesda Vision Care, Bethesda, Md.

“It is exciting to present the Rock Star award,” stated Jay Binkowitz, president, GPN. “We recognize the contribution each team member makes in the success of a practice and we work hard to support both individual and team goals in the practices that we manage through our Dispensary Management Program.

Last year’s recipient of the award, Megan Crabtree of Mt. Airy Eye Care could not be at the October meeting when the award was presented; but joined via Skype to give Ryan her best wishes.

“I can't think of anyone who deserves this year’s award more than Ryan. I know the amount of work Ryan has put into his practice because I've done the same, and it's a great feeling to be recognized for it in front of your peers. This award is a reflection of how much we are learning through the GPN Dispensary Management Program,” commented Ms. Crabtree. “I utilize what I have learned through GPN every day in my practice, and it has made a huge difference.”

“I am really honored by the award,” stated Ryan Horndasch. “We are one practice within an amazing group, and I feel very privileged to be learning and growing with GPN. The team at Bethesda Vision Care is amazing, and I give them much credit for our success.”

The ‘Rock Star’ award ties in with the culture developed by GPN with its customers, stated Rebecca Johnson, GPN executive director. GPN has trained hundreds of practices to use analytics to discover opportunity within their practices, she pointed out.
