WESTBURY, N.Y.—Spectrum Vision Partners, a leading management services organization serving the ophthalmology sector, announced this week that it has entered into a strategic relationship with Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut (OCC) and New Vision Cataract Center (NVCC), a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center based in Connecticut. The terms of the partnership deals, which Spectrum Vision Partners said will position OCC and NVCC for further expansion in Connecticut, were not disclosed. Spectrum Vision Partners was formed in 2017 with the support of an investment from private equity firm Blue Sea Capital LLC, which at the same time announced a strategic partnership with Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI).

According to an announcement at that time, the partnership was set up to positon OCLI for continued expansion, as VMAIL reported.

OCC, which was founded in 2001 and has its headquarters in Fairfield, Conn., is a leading ophthalmology/optometry practice comprised of three eye surgeons and three optometrists known for their clinical expertise and innovative care across four locations in southern and central Connecticut.

As part of the transaction, all of OCC’s physician partners will maintain their current roles with the group and will hold significant ownership in Spectrum Vision Partners, according to this week’s announcement. OCC will continue to operate as Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut in its existing market.

NVCC of Norwalk, Conn., is a modern ambulatory surgery center with two ophthalmic operating rooms and a laser suite to perform intricate eye surgeries, including laser assisted cataract surgery using the LenSx Laser System, according to the announcement. NVCC has been serving Connecticut for more than 20 years.

Eric Donnenfeld, MD, of OCC and NVCC, said, “the collaboration with Spectrum Vision Partners is a pivotal moment in our future growth plan to offer exceptional, affordable eyecare to the communities we serve. We look forward to executing our vision of rapid tactical expansion in this region.”

Tom Burke, chief executive officer of Spectrum Vision Partners, said the new partnership marks Spectrum’s first affiliation within a month of its formation as part of a tri-state strategy. “OCC and NVCC have the attributes we seek in our growth platform partnerships; eye doctors and surgeons who provide clinical excellence that are like-minded with a local market leadership position,” Burke said in the announcement. “This is our second major hub, following the addition of Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island and Island Eye Surgicenter in November.”
