DENVER— Optometry Giving Sight has appointed Eric Anderson as chief development officer for North America to help increase fundraising capacity in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Anderson is a senior development leader with more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of fundraising management with a special emphasis on the cultivation, solicitation and stewarding of major gifts and planned giving. His previous appointments include the American Indian College Fund (Denver, Colo.), University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, The Medical College of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Carroll College (Waukesha, Wis.).

With a high demand for additional funds to support sustainable eye and vision care programs throughout the region, CEO Clive Miller said he is pleased to have been able to attract someone with Anderson’s skills and experience to help expand their efforts.

Optometry Giving Sight, established in 2003 by the World Council of Optometry is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error. Optometry Giving Sight is a registered charity in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

“This opportunity is one for which I am well qualified and very excited,” said Anderson. “I look forward to learning more about the optometric profession and industry and will enjoy applying my energy as an advocate in helping to transform lives on behalf of Optometry Giving Sight’s wonderful cause”.

Miller identified support for the establishment of new Schools of Optometry in Haiti and southern Mexico as priority projects for the organization over the next few years.

Anderson will be based at the Optometry Giving Sight office in Denver.
