NEW YORK—National Sunglasses Day 2017 is just one month away. The event, held annually on June 27, aims to bring awareness to the harmful effects of the sun’s UV rays and encourages the optical community to stress the importance of wearing sunglasses.

The Vision Council is encouraging ECPs and optical retailers to help promote the importance of wearing UV-protective sunwear as a part of the event. The association has put together various resources to help make this year’s event a success which can be found on

By sharing your plans for National Sunglasses Day 2017 with The Vision Council, they can better help ECPs promote the event by providing UV research, infographics as well as sample social media posts and marketing materials.

For more information on how to get involved and promote the event, visit or contact Jessica Lutz or Lindsey Ruhe, the marketing and communications managers at The Vision Council.
