Lee as Director of Professional Relations By Staff Tuesday, July 10, 2018 12:24 AM MIDDLETOWN, Pa.—MacuLogix Inc., a company that provides eyecare professionals with instrument, tools and education needed to diagnose and treat patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), has named Amanda K. Lee, OD, as director of professional relations, effective immediately. According to an announcement on Monday, Dr. Lee will serve as “a clinical partner to MacuLogix customers, eyecare professionals and industry partners.” She will focus on advancing the standard of care for age-related macular degeneration to improve patient outcomes. William McPhee, president and chief executive officer of MacuLogix, said the company “couldn’t be more thrilled to have Dr. Lee join our team.” He added, “She is not only an experienced and influential optometrist, she is also an early adopter of the AdaptDx [and] she is uniquely qualified to advise our customers since she has built an extremely successful AMD clinic from the ground up.”AdaptDx provides a practical and objective way to measure dark adaptation, or the recovery of vision when going from daylight to darkness. It is the only biomarker of AMD, according to MacuLogix.Dr. Lee previously served as vice president/COO/co-owner of Vision Source at Seaside Eye Associates in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She also serves as an administrator in South Carolina for Vision Source and is a member of the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association. She has been a member of the American Optometric Association for the past 25 years.“I can’t imagine joining a team of people more aligned with every eyecare provider’s goal of helping people by preserving their vision,” Dr. Lee said in the announcement. “While I feel we take great care of our patients in our local clinic, there is a limited number of people we can see each year. However, if I can teach other doctors how to incorporate AdaptDx technology into their clinics so that they can save their patients’ sight, then the impact becomes exponential.”Dr. Lee has been a professional speaker and consultant for Alcon, Bausch & Lomb and MacuLogix. She will continue to live with her family in Myrtle Beach, S.C., when she’s not on the road with MacuLogix.
