Long Island City, N.Y.—ic! berlin America, LLC has announced that it will be the distributor for Baars Eyewear which will be available throughout North and South America.

Baars, an independent eyewear and sunwear line, features a magnetic hinge in place of traditional screws. “The benefits of this magnetic hinge insures that there is no worn-out flex hinge systems, the breakage of mechanical parts is more easily avoided and there is the option of adding other temples in different materials or colors, allowing for the utmost customizable styling,” the company said.

Each frame is produced in the French city of Oyonnax, located in the Jura region, and was founded by two friends, Guillaume Thuau, designer and electronic music artist and Marc-Antoine, an optician.

“Baars has found the most fitting home with ic! berlin America, which is popular for producing its line of screwless eyewear with a patented interlocking hinge system. In addition to the differing hinge styles, what sets Baars apart from the frames of ic! berlin is its acetate-centric offerings and its Millennial target demographic,” the company said.

There are 12 prescription frames and 10 sunglasses in the current Baars collection that is being offered throughout the Americas.
