NEW YORK—Gunjan Kumar has been named SVP and general manager of the Luxottica Retail Licensed Brands division in North America, VMAIL has learned. The division includes Target Optical and Sears Optical. An 11-year veteran of Luxottica, Kumar most recently served as general manager Sunglass Hut, Greater China. Kumar has held several roles of increasing responsibility in both retail and wholesale in North America, a company spokesperson pointed out, including director-strategy at Luxottica Retail from 2007-2008 and senior director business development and sales operations at Luxottica wholesale North America from 2009-2011.

After his North America assignments, he moved to Asia to lead Sunglass Hut – Southeast Asia, based out of Singapore and later, started up the wholesale business unit for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

He will split his time between Mason, Ohio and New York City, the spokesperson said.

Kumar takes on responsibilities formerly held by Alexis McLaughlin, who moved on from Luxottica Retail earlier this year, as VMAIL reported.
