Richard Sanchez

CLEARWATER, Fla.—After leaving the managed vision care company he founded in 2001, Advantica, earlier this year, eyecare industry veteran, Richard Sanchez has launched Visibility Management, a consulting firm consisting of a coalition of long-term professionals from the eyecare industry. “The goal of Visibility Management is to help companies that provide eyecare products and services figure out how to fit into the industry,” according to a statement from the company.

Visibility Management will offer a diverse range of services including financial analysis, provider contract review, new product introduction for government-sponsored plans, ACA expertise, HEDIS measures, and practice management. The new consulting firm has already been hired to provide managed vision care expertise to The Vision Council and its members. Visibility Management will also provide assistance for companies participating in mergers and acquisitions in the optical field, Sanchez told VMail.

Sanchez is recognized for having achieved unprecedented managed care growth and operating revenue during his tenure as COO for Vision Twenty-One and president and CEO of Advantica. After starting Advantica in 2001, he grew the business to nearly 2.5 million members. In 2010, Advantica was acquired by Delta Dental of Missouri. Sanchez continued to serve Advantica under its new ownership through March 2014. He is also past president of the National Association of Vision Care Plans and currently serves on the national board of Prevent Blindness.

In addition to Sanchez, Visibility Management also consists of Joseph Price, Linda Sauer, Andy Davis, David Dunbar, and John Wachter, OD. Each brings specific expertise to the firm, Sanchez explained. For example, Wachter’s optometric experience positions him to consult on claims data related to the Star scoring system and HEDIS compliance and processes. Price, ex-CFO of Advantica, can analyze the finances of each project. Davis, formerly of Advantica and Aetna, specializes in employer commercial business. Dunbar, with experience as the COO of Argus Dental & Vision and as CFO with For Eyes Optical, is well-versed in retail optical. Sauer’s experience with Alcon positions her for assisting clients with NCQA credentialing, Sanchez told VMail. “The complexity of the vision industry continues to evolve and Visibility Management is looking forward to assisting organizations navigate these changes,” he said.
