DALLAS—Essilor of America announced that senior vice president and chief information officer Greg Ericson is a recipient of the 2018 CIO of the Year ORBIE Award. The awards were presented by the Dallas CIO Leadership Association and honor CIOs who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership. With nearly 700 in attendance, Ericson won in the global category which includes multi-national companies with over $1.5 billion annual revenue and 1,000 employees outside the U.S.

Ericson joined Essilor of America in 2014. He is actively involved with the Essilor Vision Foundation, MentorNet and serves on the University of Texas Dallas advisory board. “My greatest success over the last four years with Essilor is the transformation of IT, elevating the performance from a back office IT team to a team that is aligned to a brand that focuses on commercial value, delivers referential service and is linked to our mission of improving lives by improving sight,” said Ericson.

There were 150 nominees and five finalists in each of the five categories. Finalists and winners were selected by an independent peer review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients, based upon the size and scope of responsibilities; leadership and management effectiveness; business value created by technology innovation; and engagement in industry and community endeavors.
