TACOMA, Wash.— Essilor is consolidating two of its Partner Laboratories, Jorgenson Optical Supply and Peninsula Optical Lab, into a single operation. Effective April 25, the two labs will be known as Jorgenson-Peninsula Optical Supply, according to an Essilor spokesperson. The company will operate from Jorgenson’s Tacoma location; Peninsula’s facility in Bremerton, Wash. will be closed.

“We are combining experience and technology to offer ECPs a premier local laboratory by combining Jorgenson Optical’s production operations with their sister Essilor Partner Laboratory—Peninsula Optical Lab,” the spokesperson told VMail. “Both have the reputation for providing exceptional laboratory services and customer service.”

John Jorgenson has been named president of Jorgenson-Peninsula. Willie Hein, general manager at Peninsula, is taking on the role of general manager of the newly combined companies.

In addition to a recent upgrading of digital surfacing equipment, Jorgenson-Peninsula Optical Supply will be running two shifts to improve turn time and will offer a complete local product offering including the entire Varilux, Crizal and Transitions lines, the Essilor spokesperson said.

Jorgenson Optical Supply was founded in 1927. It was acquired by Essilor in 2005. Peninsula Optical Lab was founded in 1987, and was acquired by Essilor in 2006.
