NEW YORK—Doug Harris, vice president of production and operations for Glasses.com, will head the online eyewear business going forward, following the departure of Carlo Privitera, formerly president of Glasses.com, a division of Luxottica (NYSE: LUX) who left the company earlier this month, VMail has learned.One year ago, Privitera was also named to head the Luxottica E-Comm & Digital Innovation Laboratory. According to a Luxottica spokesperson, Privitera left to pursue other opportunities.Harris led the transition from 1-800 CONTACTS when Glasses.com was acquired from WellPoint, Inc. as VMail previously reported last year. Privitera had been involved with establishing, with Holly Rush, president, Luxottica Wholesale N.A. and Lukas Ruecker, president, EyeMed, an Industry Consultancy Panel (ICP) composed of a cross-section of ECPs and optical retailers, to help provide input to the company. The spokesperson told VMail that the Panel “remains on track to develop a white label e-commerce solution for independent ODs powered by Glasses.com” and that Rush and Ruecker will continue to lead this initiative for the company.
