Danny Bentley.

SAN ANTONIO—Danny Bentley has been named president of vision insurance benefit provider, Davis Vision, a division of HVHC Inc. and part of the Diversified Business unit of Highmark Health, which also includes the national optical chain Visionworks

Effective today, Sept. 1, 2015, Bentley will begin an extensive orientation and onboarding program, including meeting with key matrix stakeholders to include Davis Vision, Visionworks, and Shared Services, according to a statement released today by Jim Eisen, CEO of HVHC and president of Visionworks.

Bentley succeeds Celina Burns, who was named president of Davis Vision in 2012.

Bentley most recently operated his own insurance company in the non-medical ancillary employee benefits space. He also held various senior level sales, operations and leadership roles with Starmount Life, Marsh USA and A.G. Edwards, much of which was tied to non-medical products such as dental, vision, life and disability.

“This rich work history represents a great fit with the HVHC portfolio and our culture,” Eisen said. Bentley will be tasked with growing “membership and access and building the brand to continue to deliver on service to the Davis membership wherever they choose to go for their vision care,” Eisen told VMail.

Bentley has over 25 years of experience with full P&L responsibility working with health insurers, brokers and numerous Fortune 500 firms. He holds a B.S. in Business from the University of Alabama. Bentley will be relocating from Florida to San Antonio along with his wife, Lisa. “He is excited about the growth trajectory of Davis Vision, as well as the ability to partner with Visionworks, Distribution/Manufacturing and our Highmark peers to continue the strategic growth of our business,” Eisen said.

Davis Vision’s over 21 million members have access to a nationwide provider network of optometrists, ophthalmologists and dispensing locations at more than 48,000 points of access across the U.S. In-network providers nationwide include retail locations such as Visionworks, Costco and Walmart.
