NEW YORK—Contact Lens Health Week, a campaign created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to increase public awareness and promote healthy contact lens wear and care kicked off Monday, Aug. 22 with a live Twitter chat.

The chat, co-hosted by the CDC and CBS Health, became a major trending topic on Twitter as participants using the hashtag, #HealthyContactsChat joined in on the conversation. Vision Monday took part in the conversation along with others in the industry including the AOA, Johnson & Johnson, Bausch + Lomb, the National Eye Institute, CooperVision and many more companies and ECPs.

Contact Lens Health Week will continue through Aug. 26. This year’s topics of focus include healthy CL hygiene habits, proper use, care and storage as well as promoting regular visits to eyecare providers.
