HAUPPAUGE, NY—ClearVision Optical will be previewing its Clear3D facial scanning and 3D printing technology at Vision Expo East in advance of the official fall launch. Clear3D, a new technology for creating customizable eyewear, will allow ECPs to offer their customers a virtual try-on experience using facial recognition, resulting in bespoke frames that can be finished in titanium, nylon or acetate. The partners behind this new enterprise, called Tech Print, include ClearVision’s David and Peter Friedfeld, Dutchman Marc Notenboom and Australian-based David Inderias.

“ClearVision was a pioneer in utilizing 3D printing technology in our design studios, which has enabled us to expedite our development process and bring our product to market much faster,” said ClearVision president David Friedfeld. “The addition of a world class facial scanning technology combined with new advances in 3D printing output will create incredible opportunities for eyewear customization and new solutions for private label collections.”

The Clear3D technology is portable and its minimal equipment attaches to any mobile device. The web-based application currently operates with Android devices and will soon function with Apple’s iOS, the company said.

Clear3D will feature a dedicated collection of men’s and women’s styles in both optical and sunglass as well as private label offerings and limited edition designs.

Although this is a preliminary pilot program, select visitors to the ClearVision Booth #1621 will be invited for an exclusive preview of the software and to view the finished product. Sales will begin at Vision Expo West.
