PIKEVILLE, Ky.—The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a press release last week about its Community Facilities program approving a $40 million loan to help the University of Pikeville construct a facility to house the Kentucky College of Optometry. However, it contained some inaccuracies provided to VMail by the University of Pikeville and the USDA. The USDA press release also mistakenly referenced the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) as the ‘Accreditation Council of the American Optometric Association’ and referred to a ‘selection’ process for the new school.”

To clarify, references to the incorrect information have been removed from the following two previously posted stories— University of Pikeville Announces the Creation of the Kentucky College of Optometry (March 3, 2014) and University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry Approved for $40 Million U.S. Department of Agriculture Loan (Sept. 29, 2014).
