NASHVILLE— OptiCon 2014, the 7th Annual National Opticians Conference, will take place here at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, Sept. 4-7, 2014. The event begins with a welcome reception the evening of Thursday Sept. 4 and continues through the afternoon of Sunday Sept. 7. Educational courses will be available in the following categories—spectacles, contact lenses, business, and hands-on—and the ABO and NCLE exam review courses will also be available.
 
Special events during Opticon 2014 will include a networking reception featuring Dr. Warren McDonald’s band “Classic Soul” at the Grand Ole Opry House. The National Federation of Optometry Schools (NFOS) will host a College Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 19, 5-7pm. Following the NFOS College Bowl on Saturday evening, Europa Eyewear will sponsor a visit to the “Honky Tonk Highway” in downtown Nashville. Companies will exhibit their products and services in the Optical Exhibit Showcase.
 
The Opticians Association of America (OAA) will also hold a number of events during OptiCon 2014. These will include the OAA board meeting, delegate assembly, state society meeting, Vision of Hope Foundation meeting, and the OAA Guild council and annual business meetings. The OAA will also elect its slate of officers and directors for the coming year.
