FORT WORTH—Alcon, a division of Novartis, announced that JeanMarie Davis, OD, FAAO, has been appointed as director of professional relations and practitioner partnerships as part of the U.S vision care professional affairs team.

Dr. Davis will work with leaders in the contact lens, lens care and ocular surface fields to create alliances within optometry, ophthalmology and opticianry in order to help Alcon deliver better patient outcomes. She will be responsible for several educational and strategic aspects related to Alcon’s U.S. vision care business.

She brings more than 15 years of eyecare experience to this role and was most recently global head, vision care technical training within Alcon’s global performance development team. She joined Alcon in 2011 and has served as member of the extended global vision care franchise leadership team.

“Dr. Davis has an outstanding understanding of the eyecare industry, from the front lines of patient care to the behind-the-scenes effort required to maintain a successful eye care practice,” said Rick Weisbarth, OD, FAAO, vice president of US vision care professional affairs at Alcon. “Her involvement in patient care combined with her international industry experience within Alcon positions her well to engage in successful collaborative relationships with many different eye care professionals that we expect will assist us in helping patients see, look and feel their best.”

Prior to working with Alcon, Dr. Davis owned an optometry practice in Miami, Fla., was a clinical assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry and has a background in surgical co-management through experience in ophthalmology and laser surgery centers.

Dr. Davis earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida International University and a Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, Fla.
