A Few Tickets Still Available for VM Summit on Artificial Intelligence

NEW YORK—It’s less than a week until the Vision Monday Global Leadership Summit on Artificial Intelligence, but a handful of tickets are still available, according to the event’s organizers.

The VM Summit, titled “A-Eye - Artificial Intelligence: Supercharging Knowledge and Decision Making” is a full-day conference featuring leading experts who will discuss how AI is being applied to self-driving cars, personal health care assistants, telemedicine, vision care and more. Several hundred optical industry influencers have already purchased tickets to the one-of-a-kind, live event to learn about AI, the most transformative trend in today’s digital world.

The Summit will kick-off with a session that will explore how data science and machine intelligence are being utilized to grow organizations and solve problems. It will feature Hilary Mason, founder and CEO, Fast Forward Labs; Mark Platshon, managing director and co-founder, Icebreaker Ventures-Autonomous World Fund; Chandra Narayanaswami, PhD, chief scientist and senior manager, IBM Commerce Research.

Speakers at the second session will discuss how AI algorithms learn what we like, enabling personalized brands to create new experiences and choices for consumers. The session will feature presentations by Victor Morrison, chief strategy officer and SVP of sales for Next IT Healthcare; Alberto Jimenez, OMS and payments leader, IBM Watson Commerce, and Or Shani, CEO and founder, Adgorithms.

Another session will examine how machines are augmenting human capabilities to help us go further, farther and faster as well as the ethical implications of this change. The speakers are Peter Morgan, chief AI officer, Ivy Data Science and Alex John London, professor of Philosophy and director of the Center for Ethics and Policy, Carnegie Mellon University.

The topic of how Artificial Intelligence is transforming eyecare will be discussed during a session moderated by Paul Karpecki, OD, FAAO, chief clinical editor, Review of Optometry. It will include an exclusive video featuring Pearse A. Keane, MD, FRCOphth, consultant ophthalmologist, Moorfields Eye Hospital (U.K.), as well as presentations by Kovin Naidoo, OD, MPH, PhD, FAAO, CEO, Brien Holden Vision Institute, John Gelles, OD, FIAO, FCLSA, chief of Emerging Technologies, Cool Doctors.

The program will conclude with a special performance by a world-class musician/composer Mari Kimura, a violinist and teacher at The Julliard School who uses AI to inspire creativity.
